چکیده

We study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to fully nonlinear second order parabolic equations including a generalized curvature flow equation which was introduced by Mullins in 1957 as a model of evaporationcondensation. We prove that, in the multi-dimensional half space, solutions of the problem with prescribed contact angle asymptotically converge to a selfsimilar solution of the associated problem under a suitable rescaling. Several properties of the profile function of the self-similar solution are also investigated. We show that the profile function has a corner and that the angles are determined by points at which the equation is degenerate. We also study the depth of the groove, which is represented by the value of the profile function at the boundary. Among other results it turns out that, as the contact angle tends to zero, the depth of the groove is well approximated by the linearized problem.

Experimental investigation of contact angle, curvature, and contact line motion in dropwise condensation and evaporation.

Image-analyzing interferometry is used to measure the apparent contact angle and the curvature of a drop and a meniscus during condensation and evaporation processes in a constrained vapor bubble (CVB) cell. The apparent contact angle is found to be a function of the interfacial mass flux. The interfacial velocity for the drop during condensation and evaporation is a function of the apparent co...

Longitudinal Conduction in Cross Flow Heat Exchanger with Condensation

The deterioration of the performance of a cross flow heat exchanger with condensation due to the longitudinal conduction was investigated. For a relatively small change of wall temperature along the flow directions which was shown to be common in many applications, the energy equations were solved numerically. An iterative method was used to solve the resulting equations of the finite differenc...

The Role of Symmetry and Separation in Surface Evolution and Curve Shortening

With few exceptions, known explicit solutions of the curve shortening flow (CSE) of a plane curve, can be constructed by classical Lie point symmetry reductions or by functional separation of variables. One of the functionally separated solutions is the exact curve shortening flow of a closed, convex “oval”-shaped curve and another is the smoothing of an initial periodic curve that is close to ...

Nanofluid Condensation and MHD Flow Modeling over Rotating Plates Using Least Square Method (LSM)

In this study, nanofluid condensation and MHD flow analysis over an inclined and rotating plate are investigated respectively using Least Square Method (LSM) and numerical method. After presenting the governing equations and solving them by LSM, the accuracy of results is examined by the fourth order Runge-Kutta numerical method. For condensation, modeling results show that the condensate f...
